This is my 3rd chord melody arrangement exclusively using the Barry Harris system of harmonization! It’s a very popular standard that many jazz musicians tend to associate with “Autumn Leaves” and “All The Things You Are” due to their similarity in the initial changes.

Although it was written in 1954 by Bart Howard who wrote songs with Cole Porter, it was made popular by Frank Sinatra when he recorded it a decade later to coincide with the Apollo missions to the moon. Yup, I’m referring to…“Fly Me To The Moon”.

So “in other words” (as the song was initially titled), here’s an opportunity to learn some “lunar chord melody” (lol) and apply those 6th and diminished chord pairings that the late bebop pianist Barry Harris was so fond of!
